Choosing a CubeSat GNSS Receiver: PVT, Raw Measurements, or Dual-Frequency Carrier Phase?
9th Sep 2026
Choose your CubeSat GNSS receiver by what your mission needs: a ready navigation solution, single-frequency observations, or dual-frequency observations for your own processing.
PVT: monitor position, velocity and time
For basic satellite position and velocity monitoring and time synchronization, choose PVT output. The receiver calculates the navigation solution, ready for your spacecraft computer to use.

L1 raw: develop your own solution
Choose L1 raw measurements when you want to formulate your own PVT solution or navigation filter. For GNSS reflectometry, confirm that the receiver supports the reflected-signal tracking and data your experiment requires.
L1/L2 raw: dual-frequency positioning and science
Choose dual-frequency raw measurements to develop your own dual-frequency positioning or precise orbit-determination solution. Dual-frequency phase measurements are also used in GNSS radio occultation to study the atmosphere and ionosphere.
Reflectometry and radio occultation require suitable antennas, tracking capabilities and mission-specific processing—not just raw-output support. Confirm the complete setup before selecting a receiver.
